Description
One-time awards of up to $20,000 are available on a competitive basis to support workshops or seminar series. These awards are intended to enable an interdisciplinary dialogue on important issues in toxics research and policy amongst UC faculty. The overarching goal of these activities is to foster the development of interdisciplinary, multi-campus research programs. Funds are intended to support travel, facility, and administrative expenses.
Proposals must include:
- Faculty from at least three UC campuses in the form of seminar speakers, session chairs, or workshop participants
- Involvement of state agency and industry personnel is encouraged
- Relevance of the proposed activity to a current or emerging issue in toxic substances that is important to the state of California
- Clearly defined goals of the activity
- A plan for follow-up actions (e.g., proposal development)
- A detailed budget for travel, facility costs, administrative expenses, other, and any matching funds
Award Amount
Up to $20,000 is available for each award

Eligibility: Faculty from any UC campus are eligible to apply.
Deadline: Proposals must be submitted on the TSR&TP website by 5:00 PM on February 6, 2009 to be considered in this competition.

Review of Proposals & Funding
The UC TSR&TP Executive Committee conducts the reviews and will select proposals for funding in May 2009, for initiation on July 1, 2009.
